Every reservation at a Host LA or Host PR property goes through Check-In Verify before it is confirmed. That means a government-issued ID check and a brief background screen against public records. It takes under two minutes for the guest and gives us confidence that anonymous bookings are not happening in homes we own.

Check-In Verify is a system we built specifically for owner-operated short-term rentals. It is designed to be unobtrusive for legitimate guests and effective at catching the small percentage of inquiries that are not. If a reservation does not pass verification, it is declined and the guest is refunded in full.

We share this with guests upfront because it is part of what makes Host LA different from a standard OTA booking. You are not renting from an anonymous listing. You are booking directly with the people who own the property, and we take the same care with who stays in our homes that we would take with any guest we invited ourselves.
